¡Hola! My name is Maria Laura, but I go by Laura. I am from Buenos Aires, Argentina and I have lived there most of my life. I got my BA in English Spanish Sworn Translation and Interpretation at Universidad del Museo Social Argentino, in Buenos Aires, where I worked for more than 10 years as a freelance Sworn Translator and an English First Grade Teacher. In 2017, I was accepted for the MA program in Hispanic Linguistics at the University of Arizona, where I worked in the Basic Language Program as a 100 Level Coordinator (Beginner Spanish) and a Teaching Assistant. Besides that, I was part of the Global Wildcats family as a Senior Global Ambassador, allowing me to work and have tons of fun with a fantastic group of international and American students to build intercultural skills. In 2019, I was awarded Outstanding Graduating Teaching Assistant for my performance in the classroom. After graduation, I continued working as a Coordinator and taught intermediate and advanced level classes. Some of my interests in the academic world include Translation in the classroom, L3 learning, and the use of corpus to improve teaching methodologies and learning. Outside the classroom, I like reading, traveling and spending time with love ones. I am delighted to be part of the Niner Nation and hope to make the best of this new experience at UNC Charlotte and show students a bit of the Hispanic culture!
