¡Saludos! My name is Kalavik De La Cruz and I am delighted to teach SPAN 1201 and share my love for the Spanish language and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world with my students. I hold a BA and MA in Spanish and Spanish Linguistics from NC State University. I have a passion for curriculum design and for my MA culminating project I received a grant from Sigma Delta Pi to hike the Camino de Santiago in Spain and create a curriculum for beginning Spanish based on the context of the Camino. I love infusing my lessons with culture so that students learn the language in the context of the beautiful places they can visit and put their language to practice! I am also an advocate of study abroad and happy to discuss my experiences with anyone who is considering the opportunity to study abroad for a summer, semester or even a year abroad. I studied at the University of Costa Rica for one semester and have since travelled to 10 Spanish-speaking countries. I have experience teaching at the middle school, high school, and university levels and am excited to once again be part of Niner Nation!
