D. J. S. Cross (Don) works on theories and practices of translation, comparative literature, and
continental philosophy in Europe and the Americas. After earning his PhD in Comparative
Literature from the University at Buffalo (2017), he spent three years as a FONDECYT
Postdoctoral Fellow with the Instituto de Filosofía at the Pontificia Universidad Católica in
Santiago, Chile. His first book, Deleuze and the Problem of Affect, was published by Edinburgh
University Press in 2021, and his edited volume on the same theme – Deleuze and Affect – will
appear in 2025 with Edinburgh as well. He has translated works from French and Spanish by
Philippe Lacoue-Labarthe, Catherine Malabou, Pablo Oyarzun, Marc Crépon, and others. His
current book project focuses upon the rehabilitation of “style” as an operator of difference in
literary theory and global modernisms.
