This Week in LANG 5/4/2026

Dear colleagues,

I hope everyone is doing well in these last few days of the semester. This is the penultimate This Week in LANG. I will send out one more on Monday, May 11 so that I can send you into the summer with all the relevant information for a successful start of the Fall 2026 semester.

Unlike in other summers, I will contact you in late July, early August, to remind you of the due date and manner of submitting your syllabi as required by Academic Affairs.

Wishing everyone a good end of the exams. Please remember that one of your basic duties in service is to attend at least one commencement (Spring, Summer or Fall) and this Friday is our CHESS commencement.

Congratulations to the student volunteers from the Japanese Reading Club, Dylan Harris, Daniel Ross, Tyler Terrell, Alexis Cisneros Vazquez, and Mac Clark, who participated in Japanese Cultural Night on Thursday, April 30, held at S.A.I.L. The event marked the 30th Anniversary of the Japanese Immersion Program and welcomed community members for an evening of hands-on cultural activities.

Representing UNC Charlotte, the students enthusiastically engaged with visitors through a stamp rally, storytelling, and bookmark making, helping guests of all ages explore Japanese language and culture in an interactive way. Their involvement contributed to a vibrant atmosphere of learning and exchange and highlighted the Japanese Reading Club’s ongoing commitment to community outreach and cultural engagement.Screenshot 2026-05-04 at 9.54.38 AM.pngScreenshot 2026-05-04 at 9.54.50 AM.pngScreenshot 2026-05-04 at 9.55.00 AM.png
