Important Information for Faculty and Staff

This Week – Niner Nation Week
From the Dean’s News Digest: CHESS Will Be at Suffolk Punch

Niner Nation Week is Monday, October 12 through the Homecoming Game on October 18.  This is not just an alumni thing. It’s a party for you, and it’s about coming together and creating a sense of excitement about Charlotte in the community. Of the four social offerings, CHESS can find their people at Suffolk Punch on Monday night from 5 to 7 p.m. Suffolk Punch is huge and on the light rail. It’s a great spot for the largest College to celebrate each other, and to run-into department alumni. (Or invite them, and your retired faculty / staff too!); There will also be pop-up tabling outside of Fretwell on Monday afternoon. As they say, it’s an “action-packed week filled with events and gatherings, culminating with Homecoming Weekend. This annual event brings together students, alumni, faculty, staff, families and the Charlotte region to display their Niner pride and celebrate the vibrant campus community.” Register for Suffolk Punch; while supplies last, you’ll get 1 drink token, appetizers, and a University branded item (probably a t-shirt).”

Exploring AI in CHESS
Faculty from the College of Humanities & Earth and Social Sciences are holding presentations and discussions about AI Oct. 20-24. See the complete schedule and registration links.

Global Perspective Series
Dr. Mónica Rodríguez-Castro will discuss the learning that took place on the UNC Charlotte Semester in Spain program, from 1 to 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 16, in the Popp Martin Student Union, Room 262.

More details to come soon in the Events section, but please begin thinking about how this lecture might relate to your curriculum and asking students to mark the date on the calendars (particularly those in the themed courses).

Microcredentials Forum
All faculty and academic staff are invited to attend the first Charlotte Microcredentials Forum featuring keynote speaker, Dr. Rob Moore, Assistant Professor of Educational Technology, University of Florida, and Director of the Investigating Digital Ecologies to Advance Transformative Education (IDEATE) Research Lab.
